The entire day we sat around and walked about, pacing and lying down, doing much of nothing. I was still grabbing hold of it and she was dealing with her pains. Then sundown came and we found out the electricity was also suddenly cut off. I used to walk down that street everyday. To and from work, with my backpack full of work tools and maybe an unfinished meal from lunch. I would go to the grocery store by the corner of the street, about halfway from my home and work, to buy some stuff. You know, grocery stuff. And then I would continue on home. I've gotta admit, I've seen some crazy shit on that street. Prostitutes, beggars, pickpockets, and even doomsayers, all crawling on the sidewalk as if trying to stop as many people as they can, for whatever their reasons may be.
